Cold rooms maintain a range of chilled and frozen temperatures dependent on the products being stored and the purpose of the cold rooms. But temperature-controlled rooms don’t only extend to walk-in fridges and walk-in freezers.
Ambient temperature-controlled rooms maintain temperatures of between +10 and +30°C, whilst warm rooms maintain temperatures above. And MTCSS can design, supply and install cold rooms, ambient rooms and warm rooms.
MTCSS recently designed and built an ambient room and a warm room for a silk drying facility. The temperature-controlled rooms were designed as a dual compartment – one chamber formed from 80mm Quadcore insulated panels with a dividing wall to create two compartments.
The two rooms were used for processing silk used for surgical sutures used in the medical industry. The smaller warm room maintained +40°C and was used to dry the silk – they were stored in trolleys that were left overnight to dry out each bale of silk. The larger ambient room was used as a storage room for barrels of acid and power dyes, maintaining temperatures of +20°C. The acid cleans the silk to ensure its sterile, and the dye is used to colour the silk.
The rooms had air conditioning systems and humidity systems installed, designed to maintain the temperatures required – in addition to Titan LED tri-proof lighting. The temperature controlled rooms had a resin floor fitted, which was selected due the acid resistance and non-slip properties.

From the beginning I found Gem’s customer service fantastic, out of all of the companies we spoke to for quotes she was the most responsive and attentive. Even when we were still finalising and it wasn’t confirmed if we were proceeding with MTCSS yet, she was always great with keeping in contact to see if we needed anything, and very responsive with emails, and also phone calls.
Andy and Nathan, have been great throughout the entire process. Both have been on hand for any queries we have had and very responsive again to all forms of communication. The gentlemen who completed the install here on site, where very friendly and mindful of business operations while completing work. Each day they would check in with who was here in the morning to explain what they would be doing, what access they required, and asked if and how this might affect our operations or customers. Again, they were very clear and open with communication and was happy to help find solutions when we had issues with the shelving.
